Employee Commuter Alternative Program (CAP)

2012/13 CAP Registration is Ongoing

Incentives for Joining - UNC subsidizes alternative commuting modes including fare free local and regional transit service.  There are 5 UNC subsidized park and ride lots in and around the area with free frequent transit to and from campus. Members receive a monthly $20 subsidy towards vanpool fees and vanpools park for free. Carpoolers have each riders share of permit costs payroll deducted , on a pre-tax basis and for 4 or more, we offer a permit from the Department of Public Safety allotment.

UNC’s Commuter Alternative Program is a regionally and nationally recognized program designed to reward commuting students, faculty, and staff who do NOT drive alone to campus. CAP supports UNC Sustainability initiatives that include reducing traffic congestion and the number of vehicles parked on campus.

Employees who don’t park on campus and bike, take the bus, walk, or share a ride, are already part of this effort – so it makes sense to join. It’s free!

The program benefits that you receive are based on the primary commuting mode upon signing up.
