Allocation Process:  Representatives from both the Graduate and Undergraduate Student Body Governments determine the permit zones and number of available permits to allocate within each class out of the overall student availability.  Students must register for permits based on their class status that allocates the available permits for sale and by resident iving in UNC Housing or commuter living outside the 2-mile radius.  Permit eligibility will be verified in the Fall of 2009, and students that are not eligible for the permit that they registered for will be notified to return the permit to DPS.  Refunds will be issued as long as the permit is returned within the required time frame on the notice.

Permit Waiting List: Students may select a waiting list choice based on their status as a resident or commuter.  Waiting list placement will be based on a first-come, first-served priority.

Hardship Process:  Students that have a significant family or job-related hardship could be eligible for a permit through the Hardship Application Process.  Even if individual circumstances warrant applying for a Hardship Permit, students should still attempt to register for a permit through the regular registration process.

Campus Transportation:  Please see Getting Around Campus or Getting to Work/Class for additional information regarding access to and around campus.
