1st and 2nd Year Medical School Parking
Registration Site opens Monday, July 9, 2012 for 1st & 2nd Year Medical School Students. The process is first-come, first-served, so it is important to review permit eligibility in advance of logging in to register.
Allocation Process: Representatives from both the graduate and undergraduate student body governments determine the permit zones and number of available permits to allocate within each class out of the overall student availability.
Eligibility: Students must register for permits based on their class status, which allocates the available permits for sale by “Resident” Living in UNC Housing or “Commuter” Living outside the 2-mile radius or within Chapel Hill Transit service area. Permit eligibility will be verified in the Fall after registration. Any student that is ineligible for the permit that they registered for will be notified to return the permit to DPS. Refunds will be issued as long as the permit is returned within the required time frame on the notice.
Permit Waiting List: Students may select a waiting list choice based on their status as a resident or commuter. Waiting list placement will be based on date of register and class status.
Hardship Process: Students that have a significant family or job-related hardship could be eligible for a permit through the Hardship Application Process. Even if individual circumstances warrant applying for a Hardship Permit, students should still attempt to register for a permit through the regular registration process.
