Freshmen Parking

Parking (1st Year Students): Freshmen are not eligible for parking permits on campus unless authorized by the Office of the Dean of Students per The Ordinance Regulating Traffic and Parking at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Article IV., Sec.  4-1.

Bike Registration:   Bicycle registration is free and mandatory at the UNC Campus.  Please help us protect your property – Register Now for a bike permit.

Campus TransportationPlease see Transit Links for additional information regarding access to and around campus. UNC has a carsharing program hosted by Zipcar that allows students to rent cars located on campus. 

Disability AccessFreshmen with a qualifying disability may also contact the Dean of Students Office at 919-962-8300.

Hardship Parking Request: Freshmen may be awarded a permit in an available commuter or resident lot if they meet the criteria of family or military hardship.  Freshmen are not eligible to apply for a hardship permit through the student government process. Contact the Office of the Dean of Students at 919-962-8300 regarding qualifying for a freshmen hardship.
