Student Commuter Alternatives Program (CAP)
2012 / 2013 CAP Registration (Begins Monday, July 16, 8am)
Incentives for Joining - UNC subsidizes alternative commuting modes including fare free local and regional transit service. There are 5 UNC subsidized park and ride lots in and around the area with free frequent transit to and from campus.
UNC’s Commuter Alternative Program is a regionally and nationally recognized program designed to reward commuting students, faculty, and staff who do NOT drive alone to campus. There are some great sources of alternative transportation available suited specifically to the commuting student schedule and lifestyle in mind. CAP supports UNC Sustainability initiatives that include reducing traffic congestion and the number of vehicles parked on campus.
Students who don’t park or live on campus (including Granville Towers), and bike, take the bus, walk, or share a ride are already part of this effort – so it makes sense to join. It’s free!
Find a place only a bus or bike ride away from campus! Use this map and apartment list to help you search for the perfect place to live and gauge apartments according to the number of bus routes serving that specific location at this link: http://redefinetravel.org/unc/aptfinder.html
The benefits received by joining are based on the primary commuting mode chosen upon registration.
