Hardship Parking at UNC

FALL, 2009 HARDSHIP RELEASE

Hardship Parking Application

General Process:

"Hardship parking is an option for students in need of a parking space for medical, family, academic, extracurricular, or work reasons. Qualified candidates can provide proof of their hardship. First year undergraduates are not eligible.

All applications submitted will be randomly disbursed to and independently reviewed by at least two Hardship Parking committee members who must recommend the application to the full committee. Complete applications that meet the criteria set forth will be reviewed by the full Hardship Parking Committee. Approval of the hardship permit will be by simple majority. All meetings will be open to any interested party.

Important Dates:

  • Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2009. Completed applications should be placed in the box on the door of the Hardship Parking Office, which is the second door on the right in Suite 2501 of the Student Union.
  • Hardship Permit assignments will be posted at the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Suite 2501 (Student Union) by Student PID# on Friday, August 28, 2009.  Applicants must check their parking assignment.  No one will be individually notified of their status.  Upon allocation of a space, the applicant should go to DPS to purchase their permit.
  • Permits NOT claimed by Thursday, September 3, 2009 will be assigned through the appeals process.
  • Appointments for an appeal must be scheduled by 5 p.m. Monday, August  31, 2009.  
Hardship Parking Appeals Allocation list will be posted at the Student Government Suite by 5 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009. Permits not purchased by Thursday, September 11, 2009 will revert to DPS for allocation.
