Triangle Transit Route 800 riders will see improvements in August, including increased service and a new route to avoid Hwy 54 traffic.

Emergency Drill on June 19 will close Raleigh Street, detouring traffic and Chapel Hill Transit routes.

Chapel Hill Transit and UNC traffic will be affected by construction and road closures throughout the summer.

UNC Park & Ride fees and Town P&R fees will be implemented on August 15. Regional P&R's will remain free, and Triangle Transit is free to ride with a GoPass.

Chapel Hill Transit Alerts

Culbreth Road Closure, Starting June 10
The D route will not serve Culbreth Road, Smith Level Road or the NC 54 Bypass (Kingswood Apartments), June 10 - August 25, due to the closure of Culbreth Road. Shuttle buses will connect customers with the J route. Customers who board the D bus at Smith Level Road or on the Bypass will need to utilize the J route during this closure. Detours for Emergency Drill on June 19
On Wednesday, June 19th, between 7am and 2pm, the A, DX, NU, RU and U routes will be detoured due to the closure of Raleigh Street between Country Club Road and South Road, as UNC will be conducting an emergency response drill near Davis Library. Click here for more details.

Good News for Triangle Transit 800 Riders!

Changes are coming to this popular route in August including a slightly different route to beat the traffic on Hwy 54 and additional trips during morning and afternoon peak times from Southpoint Mall Park & Ride lot to UNC. For additional information about this service change and a few other minor changes, please read more here. All changes go into effect August 19th, so mark your calendars.

Dump the Pump Day is June 20 – so tell that piece of metal and gas, "See ya later!" Let us know how you plan to kick your gas habit on Facebook, Twitter (@gotriangle), or post and share a photo with us on Instagram. Just add the hashtag #dumpthepump. Be on the lookout for something released from your friends at GoTriangle as well.


Bike Plans for UNC & Town of Chapel Hill

Map Your Bike Route to UNC

Thank you to all who have participated already. We are compiling a map of bicycle commutes to UNC campus and would be excited to add your route!

Afterwards, please email us ( to give an assessment of the security (low, medium, high comfort) and fitness (beginner, intermediate, advanced, expert cyclist) requirements of your route. That’s it!

Participate in Bike Plan

Spread the word! Toole Design Group is creating Bike Master Plans for the University and the Town of Chapel Hill.

What you can do:

  1. Mark up the WikiMap, telling planners what improvements you would like to see, and where!
  2. Sign up for the Facebook group The Chapel Hill Bike Plan to receive notice of public forums and developments.
  3. Contribute to the UNC Bike Map (above), which we will share with Toole Design Group.

Vanpool starting up!
Leaving from 2629 Ramada Road (I-85 Plaza), Burlington to 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill (non-stop).  Work hours are 8am to 5pm.  Please email Terri King at if you are interested.  A full van of 15 riders will pay $50.23 per month (for CAP members; $70.23 for non-CAP members). 

*Please note that the first month cost will be for deposit of van and prior month of rental which will be $71.65 (for CAP members; $91.65 for non-CAP members) which will revert back to the normal pay after that.
